HIC UP, un giovane vichingo figlio del capo villaggio, deve rendere fiera la sua famiglia e seguire la tradizione di cacciatore di draghi: per superare la prova che lo renderà degno membro della sua comunità, deve ucciderne almeno uno. Inaspettatamente, quando si trova di fronte ad un esemplare di Furia Buia (considerata la specie più pericolosa) che egli battezza Sdentato, scopre che i draghi possono essere addestrati. Parte quindi all’avventura con lui per combattere un nemico minaccioso e letale.
